The holidays are filled with opportunities to visit with friends, bake cookies and relax with your favorite movie. But they can also bring about stress when it comes to finding the perfect gift for everyone on your list. If this is your first time as a parent in an early learning center or if you recently transitioned to a new classroom, you may wonder what is an appropriate gift for your child’s teachers.
Our U-GRO teachers are here to help! We polled our teachers for what their favorite gifts are to make shopping easier for you this holiday season! If you’re looking for a little gifting help, read on for tips from our teachers for holiday gifting.
While you primarily interact with your child’s teachers in their classroom, if you got to know them outside of their profession, you’d find you have a few interests in common. Most people like going to out to eat or to the movies. Consider buying a gift card to a restaurant, coffee shop or theater that’s close to your center. If you’re not sure what cuisine they like, you can’t go wrong with a gift card to Target or Amazon.
Is your child’s teacher getting married? She might like a mug set that reads “Wife” or a ring plate for when she is doing dishes to keep her engagement ring safe. If your teacher is pregnant, she might like a gift card for a pedicure or a supply of baby wipes. Think about what life stage your child’s teacher is in and that may spark an idea.
Our teachers also love gifts with their names on it, such as a sturdy water bottle with a spill-proof lid. Whether it’s handwritten in marker or engraved, it shows you care. Be sure to check with your center director in case your teacher’s name is spelled uniquely.
Everyone could use a little more rest and relaxation in their lives – including our teachers. Bath salts or bath bombs are a great way to help a teacher unwind. Pair that with a candle or a facial mask and you’ve got a thoughtful gift. If you’re still not quite sure exactly what they’d like, try a gift card to Sephora or Ulta so they can choose their favorite brand.
Art and Office Supplies
U-GRO teachers love art! Try a stress-relieving coloring book with a colored pencil set for your child’s teacher. You also can’t go wrong with a fun set of colored pens or markers. Even throw in a bullet journal! Remember to keep in mind that this is a gift for your teacher to use outside of the classroom, so steer clear of supplies for children.
Whether it’s cookies, an ornament or a craft, your child’s teacher will cherish something made for him or her by your family. Pinterest is filled with great ideas for ways to thank a teacher. Even if you’re buying a gift, you can add a personal touch by having your child color the gift bag or card that accompanies your present.
One last piece of advice: When purchasing your teacher gifts, be sure to avoid items that are not permitted in the classroom such as hot beverages and foods with nuts. Whatever you decide to gift, your child’s teachers will appreciate your thoughtfulness.
