Make Memories with Fall Pumpkin Activities

Fall has arrived! Chilly mornings require a sweatshirt or jacket, colorful leaves cover the trees and yards, and your little ones have finally decided on their Halloween costumes (and only changed their minds four times)! Celebrate the change of seasons with these simple and fun fall pumpkin activities that you can do with your family.

Pumpkin Sensory Bags

When you clean out your pumpkin in preparation for carving, take the “insides” and place them into a sealed plastic bag. Put young toddlers into a high chair and let them squish the outside of the bag. Allow preschoolers to put their hands inside the bag and describe what they feel. Is it ooey? Is it gooey? What other great adjectives can they use to describe what they feel? Involve their other senses as well, asking them what they see and what they smell.

Pumpkin Bowling

Looking for an instant boredom buster? Create an indoor or outdoor pumpkin bowling alley for your children to enjoy. Create a pyramid using rolls of paper towels or toilet paper (add ghost faces to the rolls for even more fun!). Make the experience even more realistic by taking the optional step of drilling finger holes into your small sized pumpkin. Then let the good times roll!

Pumpkin Pie Playdough

Made entirely from food ingredients, pumpkin spice playdough is non-toxic, smells great, and keeps little hands busy. It also makes a great non-food alternative for trick-or-treaters or a goodie bag item for Halloween parties. Find our pumpkin pie playdough recipe here.
